I’ve lived with anxiety for as long as I can remember and I know that throughout my recovery from anorexia there have been periods when it has felt un-manageable. There is a lot of stress and uncertainty that goes alongside choosing to live differently, with deciding there must be a healthier, kinder way of treating myself. But making the changes I wanted to sometimes made me feel worse, at least temporarily, which is why I decided to create this resource booklet. It is a selection of mindfulness practices, breathing exercises, CBT tools and some psychoeducation that I have found helpful over the years. As I say with everything on this site, there may be parts of it you find useful and others that you aren’t interested in and that is okay; use it in a way that you feel will work for you.
When we are in the fight-flight-freeze response and our sympathetic nervous system has been activated, feeling safe is vital and everything I have included in this book is aimed at regulating the nervous system to help you feel calm again. Hopefully you can find something in here that resonates with you and as always, if you have any suggestions about things that could be added or general feedback, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with me via email or the contact page.
