My Strengths In Action

Living with an eating disorder can have a really negative impact on our self-worth, self-esteem and confidence.  It often leaves us feeling “less than” and in a mindset in which we can only see our weaknesses and ignore our strengths.  But the strengths are still there; even if you are at the stage of recovery where you are just beginning to contemplate change it shows you are brave and resilient – both strengths you will need to navigate the path ahead.

When I was first asked to identify my strengths, I really struggled with it, I had to do some research on what a character strength was and that is why I’ve made this worksheet available.  It starts with a list of strengths that you might have (even if you haven’t identified them as strengths before) and encourages you to put them into action.  It is a guide to help you feel more attuned to your strengths and to reflect on how putting them into action affects your day-to-day life, whether in a good or bad way.  I hope you find it helpful on your recovery journey.
